Fengshui stories
First, let me share one real Feng Shui stories from my surroundings.
The first story is from my hometown. My ancestral home is in a rural area where transportation was very inconvenient in the past. At that time, the village didn't have a road, only a small dirt path leading to the town. Along this path, there were many ponds. The villagers used the ponds to store water for irrigation and to raise fish. Alongside a slightly downhill path, there was a pond with a house nearby. I used to pass by this house, and by the time I saw it, it was already very dilapidated and uninhabited, surrounded by desolation. I asked my mother if anyone had lived there before.
My mother said that a family used to live there, but they had somehow cut down a large tree near the pond, and soon after, the house began to deteriorate. Within a few years, the entire family had died one by one. To this day, the ruined house remains, with no one wanting to buy the land; only the walls without windows are left.
According to my mother, this place had bad Feng Shui and was a major negative energy spot. However, this situation only occurred after they cut down the tree. The family had lived there for many years before that. Originally, the tree was located by the pond, and its presence helped to control the water energy. Without the tree, the strong water energy became too much for the family to handle, turning the place into a danger zone. Moreover, it was clear that their house was too close to the pond; normally, there should be some distance between them.
This is an example of how breaking the balance of the Five Elements can lead to problems. In modern cities, such strong energy fields are rare, usually only found in parks or similar places. We don't need to worry about such single, strong energy fields but rather deal with more complex and combined energy fields due to the dense population and the close proximity of buildings in urban areas.
This examples are extreme, as the disruption in Feng Shui led to fatalities, or they were in inherently bad Feng Shui locations. Generally, issues with Feng Shui today mostly affect health, with extreme cases being rare but still existent. On a larger scale, it can impact life, while on a smaller scale, it might cause headaches, attract troublemakers, or lead to conflicts.
Thus, since the inception of Feng Shui, the study has focused on balancing our interaction with nature and ourselves. Achieving balance in our own energy field allows us to counteract external strong energy fields. However, we are not perfect and our natural Five Elements are hard to balance on their own. We often need external aids such as placing stone lions at our door for their powerful protective functions, setting up Feng Shui fountain to supplement water elements, or wearing spiritually potent stones or crystals to enhance our lacking energies. Different natural stones have different energy fields, so we should choose those that suit us.
Lack of certain energies makes us more susceptible to external disturbances, affecting our mental state, health, and fortune. Therefore, people use Feng Shui-enhanced items as accessories or home decorations to help find balance, seek blessings, and improve health.
